Anger Foot has surged in popularity and a lot of people are looking forward to this game, so that’s why we at Tech Rorschach came up with a review for it. Without further ado, let’s dive straight in.
Overview
Anger Foot is a game that was submitted in a game jam, and it feels almost like a standalone game now. Anger Foot is a simple first-person shooter that is brutal, fast-paced, and entertaining. The game is brief, and most players can complete each level within 10 minutes. Anger Foot is frequently updated by the developers, and it has just gained new music tracks, opponents, firearms, and stages to keep things fresh and to extend its lifespan.
In Anger Foot, you play as a masked hero who goes on a killing rampage and kicks goons to their death. There are no dialogues so I don’t know why we do this, all I know is that the enemies are gangsters. Despite all of this, the aimless killing and no dialogue make the game more entertaining. Although, there should be some cheeky dialogues for our hero like hasta la vista baby and something similar.
Simplicity is the key!
Anger Foot is a gratifying experience despite its simplicity. Like the controls are simple, and there isn’t much to master along with the fact we don’t have any scenes or dialogues and go straight to the levels. All of this simplicity and straightforwardness make the game more appealing because many of the gamers do have jobs, studies, or both. It means after hard work they don’t need to relearn the basics of the game. It’s simple, just start the game, shoot some bad guys and be the hero.
However, there is one issue with the game. Its consumption of GPU is extremely high. I ran this game with AMD’s RX 570 (4GB) GPU and this 400 MB game was consuming 100% of my GPU. Hence, the optimization of the game is also something to take be taken care of.
Attention to detail
One of the finer attributes of games and their developers that I certainly adore is the attention to detail. In this game, almost everything is interactable except the structure of the place you are in. Tiny details like smashing the bugs that were moving about the room minding their own business was certainly not our objective nor does it give us an extra score. But the developers did allow us to do that. Things like drinking from the soda machines are also possible.
Moreover, one of the obvious mechanics that you might have missed is getting drunk. Just pick up a bottle and after drinking it your vision will go blur and everything will be more energetic including the music. Killing enemies while in this state is certainly fun but hard to navigate and to find doors.
Achievements in Anger Foot
There are tons of achievements added in the game that you will get in each level, like killing all the goons, shooting x amount of bullets, and more. One of the harder achievements is to complete levels without killing a single goon. Now that’s not that difficult, but it is hard as in this game you can accidentally kill enemies. The problem also arises that the enemies can accidentally kill each other too which is why many players are not getting this achievement. It is sometimes infuriating when a person completes the full level and doesn’t get the achievements.
One of the missed opportunities by the game developers is the exploding fire extinguishers because they have put in explosive barrels and the same way the fire extinguishers should explode.
The movement of the character is fluid and it feels amazing navigating the levels. It would be more interesting to see some platforming but that is up to the developer. Most players think that our character can use only the left leg to kick, but they are wrong. They can kick with the right leg when in the air. The left leg kick is more of a straight kick, whereas the right kick is where the person is a high kick moving, and the motion of the leg is from left to the right, which is the correct way. You can also see it in the video review.
Fast-paced & Thrilling
It’s thrilling to smash down doors and instantly begin slaying whoever is on the other side. With that plus the adrenaline-pumping music, Anger Foot is worth downloading and playing at least once, especially considering it’s free. The game is incredibly fun, but there are a few things to be added, and the game feels incomplete. It would be nice seeing the developers turn this part-time project into a full-fledged project.
